About Writers-in-the-Round

WITR is a showcase series featuring songwriters and poets performing in true "in the round" style. Deidre currently hosts the weekly radio series, which showcases artists drawn from Boston to Portland, and beyond in both songwriting and poetry/spoken word. Performers come from diverse musical genres, sharing in an acoustic setting, the essence of their writing. Expect informal jamming, surprises, and lots of laughs.

Writers in the Round, hosted by Deidre Randall, began October 19, 2002 and ran every other Thursday at the now defunct AD's Barbeque until the spring of 2003. WITR was then invited to move to the The Press Room where it ran once a month from May 2003 to May 2004. In the summer of 2004, Writers in the Round was a weekly pre-show on Thursday nights at the Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The writers enjoyed playing for a larger audience and in an outdoor setting, except when it rained. Just in time for WITR's two year anniversary, the event moves to the radio.
