Deidre Randall, more bio and career infoDeidre was asked to perform at the New Hampshire Folk Festival at the Portsmouth Music Hall in April of 2006. She currently limits her performing schedule in order to care for her youngest son Ethan, but does make regular appearances in New Hampshire. Passport was recorded at Imaginary Cat Studio in Eliot, Maine, between July 2003 and March 2004. Her producer, Marc McElroy, has worked with Grammy nominated artists, as well as recording his own music with his band Elroy. Passport features the talents of the Mill City Ramblers; Dave Talmage, Matt Shipman, and Steve Roy, and members of High Range; Todd Jones and Ellen Schmidt, plus Charlie Strater, Ed Jurdi, percussionist Adam Tagliamonte, accordion from both TS Baker and Gary Serdzienski, vocals from Nate Laban of Shuttlecock, along with Harvey Reid and Joyce Andersen performing with Deidre on 10 original songs. The title track, Passport, is a solo track recorded and produced by Harvey Reid at Woodpecker Studios in York, Maine, for the Seacoast Guitar Society's Songwriters Compilation disc, Volume II. Deidre is one of the songwriters showcased on the SGS's Songwriters Compilation disc, Volume II. Released in April of 2003, by the non-profit organization envisioned and created by Harvey Reid, this disc offers the talents of such writers as balladeer/poet John Perrault, Dave Gerard of Truffle, and TS Baker, who is a 2003 New Song finalist of the Kerrville Songwriting Competition. Deidre continues to participate in showcases highlighting this fine collection of seacoast-based talent. Visit www.seacoastguitar.org for more information. Deidre has been hosting and performing at a monthly showcase in Portsmouth, New Hampshire since October 2002. For this event, called Writers in the Round, she gathers the finest songwriters and poets from New England and beyond, and they perform in the round for an enthusiastic audience. The showcase is known for unusual combinations of great writers and their on-stage interaction makes for a true one-of-a-kind experience for all involved. Deidre was the Best Folk Artist of 2000, as chosen for the Portsmouth Herald's, Reader's Choice Spotlight Awards and announced in April of 2001. Chosen to perform at the Market Square Day 2000 Homecoming Folks Concert with Harvey Reid at the Portsmouth Music Hall in June of 2000. She was also chosen for the New Faces Showcase for the Prescott Park 1999 Folk Festival. In 1999, 2000 and 2001, Deidre was also nominated for Jam Music Magazine's Female Artist of the Year. She was a nominee for a Spotlight award in 1999, and in 2001 as well. Jam Music Magazine calls Love on the Loose a "gem that belongs near the top with catchy, soft tunes that sneak up...they all work!" Face Magazine says of Love on the Loose "Deidre's rich expressive voice is the high point of the record." Deidre was the hostess for the Stone Church's Acoustic Open Mic Series, 1999-2001. One of Deidre's songs, "Lover's Try Again," from Love on the Loose, was chosen for a compilation disc project, which benefited area land trusts. The project is called SOUL CD (Save Our Undeveloped Land), and it was released in 2001. Deidre released her first recording of original folk songs, entitled Love on the Loose, on Dave Marshall's Fat Cuz label in December of 1998. Deidre shares this label with Big Chicken and Dave Gerard of Truffle. The CD Love on the Loose features: Dave Marshall & Todd Jones (Big Chicken), Charlie Strater, Ed Jurdi, Rob Duquette (Cactus Highway.) & Chris O'Neill (Friday Night Haircuts).
